As a fully qualified lawyer, Gayle has worked in the field of EU law for over 17 years, both in the private and public sector, as well as in EU and international organisations.
Gayle specialises in EU institutional and economic law among others. She is also experienced in litigation before the EU Courts. Gayle started her career as a diplomat in the EU Affairs Directorate of the Maltese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She left the Foreign Office in 2004 to join the Legal Service of the EU Council in Brussels where she worked as legal adviser to the Council for 6 years in various fields of EU economic law.
After 9 years in Brussels, Gayle became head of the EU and International affairs department of the Lotteries & Gaming Authority (“LGA”) in Malta now renamed the Malta Gaming Authority. In 2017, Gayle joined GVZH Advocates, a top tier Malta law firm where she leads the regulatory department and is a Director and Lead Consultant in Ewropa Consultancy Services Limited.
Gayle’s expertise and varied experience in EU law means she is well versed in all aspects of EU law, policy and EU funding opportunities. She is passionate about helping Malta, Maltese entrepreneurs and businesses gain access to the EU financial assistance they are duly entitled to and which very often remains unclaimed and underused.
Education and Court Admissions
Gayle graduated in Law and International Relations from the University of Malta. Gayle also obtained a Master in EU Law from the College of Europe (Bruges, Belgium). She worked within the European Commission, as well as the EU Council at different periods between 2002 – 2011.
Gayle is fluent in English, French, Italian and Maltese.
