The ERDF scheme provides grants for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) who:

1. Are active in any of the following sectors:

biotech, pharma, ICT/software development, eco innovations, tourism, boutique hotels, health, childcare, artisan/crafts and start-ups proposing products and/or services that can be marketed and distributed internationally and which are typically more advanced than those prevailing in their respective industry in terms of technology, know-how and skill; repair, overhaul or maintenance of pleasure crafts, yachts having less than 100gt, aircraft, engines or equipment incorporated or used in such vessels or aircraft

and

2. Incur the following expenses:

  • The purchase of equipment, machinery and plant
  • The lease/rental of premises during a project (for e.g. during renovations)
  •  The construction / upgrades on premises
  • Obtaining of patents and licences

Therefore, if you are an SME active in one of these sectors and you intend to incur any of the above costs, you can be eligible for any of these funds:


START-UP INVESTMENT

This grant is given to SMEs to help them economically exploit ideas i.e. to fund the initial investment costs in tangible and intangible assets required to implement the business’ growth strategies. This grant funds up to 50% of eligible costs reimbursed until a maximum of €300,000.

SME GROWTH

This grant is given to SMEs who make investments in tangible and intangible assets to implement their growth strategies (such as any extensions to their offices, establishment or even the setting up of a new establishment). This grant funds up to 20-30% of eligible costs reimbursed until a maximum of €500,00.

SME DIVERSIFICATION

This grant is given to SMEs who make investments to diversify their offering; to implement a fundamental change, or to innovate and bring to the market significantly improved and advanced products or services to those already offered by the undertaking. This grant funds up to 50% of eligible costs reimbursed until a maximum of €200,00. The wage costs of a Change Manager specifically engaged for the project is also covered under this grant.

SME INTERNATIONALISATION

This grant is given to support SME’s internationalisation efforts. It is aimed to help SMEs introduce their products/services to new markets or strengthen their international presence for e.g. stands at Fairs. This grant funds up to 50% of eligible costs reimbursed until a maximum of €10,000 including any participation fee at a fair, the rental of exhibition space/stands, the setting up of stand, air travel, accommodation, branding material, shipment of exhibits etc.

SME CONSULTANCY GRANTS

This grant pays the costs of external consultants who draft business plans or feasibility studies for SMEs, both of which are required for the SME to go on and apply for bigger more targeted funds. This grants funds up to 80% of eligible costs reimbursed until a maximum of €4,000.

E-COMMERCE GRANT

This grant funds the development of an e-commerce website and/or mobile application or upgrade of an existing website and/or mobile app to enable online payments or booking systems through integration of payment gateway. This grant funds up to 50% of eligible costs reimbursed until a maximum of €5,000.
